Duties:
The Advanced Practice Nurse conducts medication re-evaluations for consumers who have been seen by the psychiatrist. Aids in formulating diagnostic impressions based on DSM-V criteria in collaboration with the psychiatrist and other treatment members. May practice in the role of therapist, providing individual and/or group psychotherapy, as needed. Can write prescriptions for non-controlled substances. Will be in verbal and/or electronic contact with the supervisory psychiatrist. Attends meetings as required. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the consumers served. The individual demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the consumer population served. He or she must be able to assess and interpret data about the consumer’s status in order to identify each consumer’s needs and provide the appropriate care, including age-related care, needed by the consumer group.
Our Outpatient services offer therapeutic counseling, psychiatric services and substance abuse services for adults, children, adolescents and families. All services are based on a variety of evidence-based practices delivered by an interdisciplinary staff that includes psychiatrists, masters’ level clinicians, family therapists, addictions specialists, social workers, peer support specialists, care coordinators and advanced practice nurses.
Education/Experience:
Master’s Degree in psychiatric/mental health specialization or equivalent with prescriptive authority. Minimum of three years’ psychiatric nursing experience, one year post graduate preferred. Current license in New Jersey required.
