School Based Youth Services Program
Located inside Pemberton Township High School, the School-Based Youth Services Program provides an array of free services to help students navigate their time in high school while simultaneously gaining skills that help lead to graduation and employment or continuing education.
School Based Youth Services are accessible on site, free of charge, and are available to all Pemberton Township High School students and their families.
Services at The Hive
The Hive is a School Based Youth Services Program that’s goal is to help students successfully navigate the adolescent years, finish their education, obtain skills leading to employment or continuing education and graduate from high school healthy and drug free.
SBYSP services are intended to ensure successful linkage to community resources through information and referral and implementation of evidence-based prevention programs (EBP) that meet population needs. EBP focus areas include Mental Health Counseling, Substance Abuse Counseling & Education/Prevention, Leadership Development and Job Readiness, Preventative Health Awareness, Primary Medical Linkages, Learning Support, Healthy Youth Development.
SBYSP services are supportive programs and services operating in host schools and coordinating existing schools and community resources.
The Hive supports PTHS students by providing:
- Classroom and schoolwide events
- Academic support
- Career/college planning
- Interview/job search skills
- Mental Health Counseling (Individual/Group/Family)
- Skill building opportunities
- Video games, board games & more
- Open Hive -Available during lunches 3rd & 4t h block on Wednesdays & Fridays
- After School – Every day starting by 2:20pm unless announced otherwise
- Recreation Outings- some during the school year and during the summer months
Meet our Staff!!
Program Supervisor– Zachary Oster, MSW
Zachary graduated from the University of South Carolina with his Bachelor’s Degree and most recently from Capella University with his Master’s Degree in Social Work. Zachary provides oversight and supervision of the program. He is available to assist with program services, provide mentorship/support to students, and connect with staff/community resources. Zachary provides a space to help understand services provided and connect students and their families to community resources.
School Intervention Specialist– Rebecca McAllister, LSW
Rebecca graduated from Rutgers University with her master’s in social work and is a Licensed Social Worker. Rebecca provides weekly individual, group, or family counseling sessions for students at Pemberton Township High School. She works with students struggling with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, family conflict, and grief. Rebecca utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and a strength-based approach in assisting students overcome their obstacles, develop coping strategies, and improve their overall well-being. Her office is a safe and supportive space where everyone is valued and respected.

The Hive is open Monday – Friday from 7:30am to 4:30pm during the school year. Summer hours vary.
