Duties:
The Lester Place program serves children and youth who have Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Through assessment and therapeutic, behavioral and medical interventions, a multidisciplinary team works to stabilize each youth and help them transition back to their families or to a lower level of care. This structured program includes education and/or vocational training, community involvement, nursing, life skills and social skills training. Therapy is provided to both the youth and their family.
Implement the programs set forth by the Management Team. Work effectively with assigned youth, demonstrate an understanding of behavioral strategies being implemented, collect data on maladaptive behaviors as well as teach daily living skills. The position is a vital team member responsible for the maintenance of a positive, strength-based, developmentally appropriate, therapeutic environment that is in keeping with the values and clinical treatment philosophy of Legacy Treatment Services. Primary duties and responsibilities include: Provide supervision of youth at all times. Act as a house leader when designated in the absence of the Program Manager. Lead in the implementation of individual treatment plans and behavior plans for each youth. Share responsibility for the keys and security of the house and its contents. Fundamental knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis strategies. Complete Registered Behavior Technician certification within 6 months of hire. (Provided by agency). Prepare written reports, house log, residents’ incident reports, behavior data collection and any reports requested by Program Manager. Actively engage in all pre-crisis and crisis interventions, seeking to establish a positive outcome while utilizing the least restrictive alternatives. Actively participate in ongoing quality improvement activities of Legacy Treatment Services including, but not limited to, serving as a member of the quality improvement team. May be assigned to supervise Residential Counselors as the discretion of the Program Director. Other duties as assigned.
Your driver’s license must be in good standing, with no recent suspensions or violations of careless/reckless driving or excessive speeding of more than 10 MPH, and no more than 2 moving violations within the last 3 years.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in a social science area; three years of experience in the direct care and/or training of children with behavioral problems; or in lieu of Bachelor Degree, High School diploma with 5 years of relevant experience.
