Duties:
The Paraprofessional promotes the achievement of students’ educational goals and behavioral objectives by providing the necessary support and professional interaction within the scope of all assigned duties. Assists the Principal, classroom Teacher or Social Worker in maintaining appropriate classroom activities and creates a sound and safe environment for learning.
Our state-approved special education school uses a Learning Center Model with small class size and individualized instruction. All teachers are Special Education certified and each classroom includes two teacher’s aids. We provide a full-time Guidance Counselor, School Social Worker, Reading Specialist, and Learning Disabilities Teaching Consultant (LDTC), to meet the needs of all individualized educational plans (IEP). There is a full-time nurse on duty to attend to the medical needs of the students. Students attending our Mary A. Dobbins School are residents of Legacy Treatment Center programs and day students referred from their local school districts.
Education/Experience:
A degree from an accredited college/university or sixty (60) college credits. Valid Substitute Certification is preferred but not required.
