Duties:
In conjunction with the Behaviorist Supervisor, the School Behaviorist plans and provides behavior management programs for youth enrolled in the Mary A. Dobbins School. Provides related services to administrators, staff, parents, and the community as appropriate. Actively participates in the development and implementation within the classroom setting of policies relative to the management of problematic behaviors. Converts Behavior Support Plan developed by the Residential Program’s Behaviorist into a Behavior Intervention Plan for the student’s Individual Education Plan. Should consumer exhibit a novel behavior in the school environment, the School Behaviorist will conduct a Functional Behavior Assessment and modify the Behavior Support Plan to include novel behaviors. Obtains all approvals and consents for the behavior plan. Monitors all plans, supervises all documentation, and is responsible for all training of staff involved with programing and data collection of behavior plans. Facilitates bi-weekly meetings to update Residential Clinical Team Leaders, Behaviorists, and school staff on progress or concerns.
Education/Experience:
Master’s Degree in applied behavior analysis, psychology, special education, social work, or a related field, plus three years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities involving behavior modifications. The Behaviorist is expected to be working toward a BCBA if he/she does not already have certification in the field, preference given to a BCBA.
