Duties:
Assist in providing a safe environment and positive behavioral support treatment program within the home and the community. Assist in maintaining a positive, strength-based, developmentally appropriate therapeutic environment. Work effectively with assigned youth, demonstrate an understanding of the behavioral strategies being implemented, collect data on maladaptive behaviors, as well as teach daily living skills. Provide 100% supervision of client as assigned. Participate in therapeutically designed activities such as positive behavioral interventions. Fundamental knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis strategies. Attend all ongoing professional development trainings, as well as program and Agency meetings. Provide all necessary documentation of client behavior, and interventions attempted, using the approved format. Collect and report data as required using approved methods and forms. Participate as an active member of the treatment team. Actively engage in all pre-crisis and crisis interventions, seeking to establish a positive outcome while utilizing the least restrictive alternative. Develop a rapport and professional relationship with youth, as well as families/guardians. Participate in quality improvement activities, including incident/accident/grievance review, peer record review, satisfaction surveys, program evaluation and quality improvement projects, at the program level. Remain in consistent contact with BCBA or behaviorist via phone, email and in-person. Report any unusual incidents as soon as possible, within 24 hours. Additional related duties as assigned by the BCBA or Behaviorist.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in social services, psychology, education, child development, or other closely related fields or, in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, a minimum of five (5) years’ experience working as child care staff in a setting designed specifically for the developmentally disabled. Must demonstrate the ability to read, write and effectively communicate.
