Review of the Referral
Typically, school districts will refer a special-education student with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and/or social-emotional needs to one of our schools when the student is not successful in their current academic placement. The IEP team agrees to an out-of-district placement in one of our schools.
Each of our campuses has an admissions team to help districts and families with the full enrollment process.
Representatives from the Woods Schools’ education department review the IEP and determine if we can enroll and serve the students. They then work with the admissions team to gather the necessary documents:
- The primary reason for the referral
- The student’s IEP needs
- The primary disability and variables that impede learning
- Any co-existing diagnoses, such as mental health issues
- The student’s vaccination history, health records, and special medical needs.
